The Returning Soldier

The Returning Soldier

The Returning Soldier Network (established 2018) brings together scholars and postgraduate research students looking at the figure of the returning soldier from the ancient world to the modern day. It is a collaborative network run by Manchester Metropolitan and Birmingham Newman University.

The Returning Soldier looks at how veterans have coped with the experience of returning home, how they were received and how they were perceived by the people and communities they returned to. The network involves academics from universities across the UK, Europe, USA, Australia, and New Zealand.

Anyone with an academic interest in the subject of military veterans can join the network.

If you would like to join, please email network leaders Professor Kathryn Hurlock (K.Hurlock@mmu.ac.uk) and Dr Owen Rees (O.Rees@staff.newman.ac.uk)
