HaCC annual lecture 2025 with Dr Tom Hamilton

On 8 May, Dr Tom Hamilton gave the HaCC annual lecture. Dr Hamilton spoke about the subject of his latest book, A Widow’s Vengeance after the Wars of Religion (OUP). The lecture followed the story of the widow Renée Chevalier who, at the end of the French Wars of Religion, instigated the prosecution of the military captain Mathurin Delacanche, for multiple acts of rape, homicide, and theft against the villagers who lived around her château near the cathedral city of Sens.
