DESCRIPTION:UPDATE 13 12 24: A conference website with more details – including how to register –  is accessible here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/royal-armouries-conference-2025-tickets-1101156581979  \n\n\n\nThis conference seeks to bring to bear on the topic the widest rangepossible of thematic\, disciplinary\, geographical and chronologicalperspectives. Its goal is to disentangle specific manifestations of lootingfrom their fundamental\, underlying\, anthropological motivations\,allowing us to understand all aspects of plunder more effectively. It willexplore how different societies have prohibited\, regulated andencouraged the phenomenon of loot\, and the historical\, social\, legal\,cultural\, and political motivations which such practices reveal. \n\n\n\nThe conference will take place 28–29 of April at The Royal ArmouriesMuseum\, Leeds\, UK. We welcome proposals by scholars at all stages\,including PhD and early career. A number of bursaries will be availableto assist with attendance expenses and we would especially like to beable to support traditionally underrepresented scholarship.We welcome any of the four following types of proposal: \n\n\n\n\nIndividual papers (20 minutes plus Q&A)(https://forms.office.com/e/UzQePkeJLg)\n\n\n\nChaired panel proposals of three papers (20 minutes plus Q&A)including chair (https://forms.office.com/e/jfvuZwxkLD)\n\n\n\n‘Lightning presentations’ (5 minutes plus Q&A) focused on aparticular artefact.
